Harriman

From the time he was a child, Harriman was told he was ugly. His two older sisters were very pretty and quite vain about their looks, and they didn't want anyone upstaging them. As a result, he became shy and retiring, avoiding contact with most people outside of the family, and he avoided looking in reflective surfaces whenever possible. The latter was quite difficult because his older sisters had several mirrors scattered about the house so they could admire themselves and primp when they felt the need.

As Harriman grew older, he got used to looking into mirrors without seeing himself. Then one day a strange thing happened - he saw something else in the mirror, something that wasn't really there. It took him a long time to repeat the experience, but he quickly realized that mirrors had power. When he was old enough, he joined the local mage academy and dove into his studies, proving an apt pupil of magic. His instructors were surprised when he chose a field of study no one had before - mirror magic. He began to tap the power inherent in reflective spells, pioneering a new trail in magic. Ironically, Harriman has never figured out that he is not ugly, but is in fact quite handsome. He long ago mastered the art of looking into mirrors without seeing his own reflection, and since no one has corrected his assumptions, he still toils under the mistaken premise of his own ugliness.

Harriman stands just over six feet and has a shock of blond hair, gray eyes, and a lean build. His mage symbol is an oval with a design around it - a mirror frame.

Alter Reflection
Illusion (Figment)
Level: Wiz 2
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Mirror touched
Duration: 10 minutes/level
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This spell alters the touched mirror so that any person it reflects looks different - size, weight, age, hair/eye color, all can be changed, per the alter self spell. The desired changes must be stated when the spell is cast, and cannot be changed thereafter. Said changes also apply equally to every person (defined as any humanoid being) reflected in the mirror, unless they don't cast a reflection. For example, if a mirror is enchanted to show everyone as a fat old person, everyone would look much heavier and older. Since this is an illusion, spells like true seeing will show the true reflection to the viewer.

Blank Reflection
Illusion (Figment)
Level: Wiz 2
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: 1 creature
Duration: 1 minute/level
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

This spell renders one creature effectively invisible to all reflective surfaces – it casts no reflection, even in magical mirrors, for one minute per caster level. It is particularly useful whendealing with magical mirrors like a mirror of opposition.

Material Component: A small piece of a two-way mirror.

Face in the Mirror
Illusion (Glamer)
Level: Wiz 2
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: One mirror
Duration: Permanent until triggered
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

Face in the mirror is a variant form of magic mouth. Instead of creating an illusionary mouth, though, it creates an entire face, which appears in a reflective surface of the caster's choosing in the spell's range. This surface can be anything from a pool of water to a mirror; most casters choose mirrors or highly polished pieces of metal for their durability.

The trigger for this spell is the same as for magic mouth - i.e., it can be as specific or as vague as the caster wishes. The face that appears can be any that he has seen, from any being; the default is his own face. If, for some reason, he does not have a face or does not wish to show any face, the mirror will show a face with no features.

Unlike magic mouth, the caster can tie an alarm to this spell so that it alerts him when it goes off. He can then use a mirrorlink to view or communicate with the person on the other end, if he so wishes.

Focus: One reflective surface.

Luckbane
Transmutation
Level: Wiz 7
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Mirror touched
Duration: Permanent until triggered
Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

Luckbane can be placed on any mirror, whether it already bears another enchantment or not; when the mirror is broken, the person who broke it (even if it is the caster) must make a Will save or be cursed: he suffers a -4 luck penalty to saves, attacks, and checks for seven years. A break enchantment (but not remove curse) prematurely ends the effects; otherwise, nothing besides magically repairing the mirror (or a wish or miracle) will break the curse. If two or more beings break the mirror (they were carrying it and dropped it), the spell affects all of them equally. The mirror can be moved, touched, and otherwise handled normally without setting off the curse.

Magic Mirror
Conjuration (Creation) [Force]
Level: Wiz 2
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect: One mirror
Duration: 10 minutes/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

By use of this spell, the caster creates a mirror-like object made of force. It can be free-standing, floating in the air, or hanging on a wall or door. Since it is made of force, it cannot be broken, but it otherwise acts as a normal mirror in all respects (including reflecting gaze attacks), and can be made permanent. A magic mirror can be ended early by will of the caster or by a successful dispel magic. A magic mirror will disappear inside an antimagic field. This mirror cannot be used as a material component or focus.

The somatic component of this spell is a circular motion with one hand, like polishing a mirror.

Mirror Double
Conjuration (Creation)
Level: Wiz 8
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 10 minutes
Range: Touch
Target: One mirror
Duration: Special
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This spell, when cast on a mirror, duplicates the effects of a mirror of opposition. When any creature (except the caster and those he has named in the casting of the spell) is reflected in the mirror, that creature's reflection steps out of the mirror as a perfect duplicate of the victim, down to memorized spells and magical items, though artifacts and other unique items are not duplicated. The double is treated as a construct; it will seek to slay the victim by the most expeditious means possible, pursuing him relentlessly, without pause, until either it or the victim is dead. Once one or the other has been destroyed, the double shatters into a pile of normal glass. A creature can have only one such double chasing it at any given time.

Mirror double creates one double (the same being or multiple beings) per caster level; the size of the double is limited by the size of the mirror (that is, a small mirror means a smaller double; it still has the same number of HD and hit points, but it might do less damage based on its size). A double cannot be larger than the victim, however, and only one can be produced at any given time (that is, if a double already exists, a new one cannot be created).

Unless precautions are taken (casting wall of force in front of the mirror, or glassteel on it), the mirror can be shattered normally, ending the spell prematurely. Otherwise the spell lasts until the requisite number of doubles has been created. The mirror in question cannot be used for any other spells while this spell is in effect.

This spell can be used instead of clone in the creation of a mirror of opposition.

Focus: A mirror of any size worth at least 500 gp.

Mirror Image, Greater
Illusion (Figment)
Level: Wiz 4

As mirror image, but the images cast by this spell can move independently of the caster. They can move up to 30 feet away and can undertake any action he wishes.

Mirrorgate
Conjuration (Teleportation)
Level: Wiz 6
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 round
Range: 100 miles/level
Target: Caster and touched objects or other touched willing creatures
Duration: 1 round (see below)
Saving Throw: None and Will negates (object)
Spell Resistance: No and Yes (object)

As teleport, except that this spell requires the use of a mirror as a focus. The mirror must be large enough to reflect the caster in his entirety – for example, a Medium caster must have a mirror at least 3 feet by 5 feet in size. The caster must also know of another reflective surface to which he intends to teleport – another mirror, a sheet of polished metal, a pool of still water, etc.

When the spell is cast, the mirror briefly fills with mist, then clears to show a view of the area through the other surface (if this surface is a pool of water, the caster will get a nice view of the sky, but nothing else). The caster must then touch the mirror within one round, at which point is he drawn through (the mirror appears to become semi-liquid) and steps out on the other side.

Focus: A specially-prepared mirror with silver backing, ornate frame, and high-grade glass, worth at least 500 gp.

Mirrorlink
Transmutation
Level: Wiz 3
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: 50 ft./level
Target: Two mirrors
Duration: 2 rounds/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This spell creates a link between two reflective surfaces of any type (a mirror and a pool of water, two mirrors, a polished shield and a pool, etc). The caster must be able to visualize the target while he is looking at the source; the mirrors can be up to 50 feet per level apart. When the spell is cast, he can see the person on the other end (and only that person) and vice versa. The caster and the other person can then converse if they share a common language. This is a closed link - that is, nothing can pass between the two mirrors, nor can any spells be cast through the link. A few spells can be cast on either end, however: read magic, comprehend languages, tongues, darkvision. The following spells also have a 5% chance per caster level of functioning correctly: detect magic, detect alignment, message.

Mirror mages typically use this spell to communicate with friends or associates, or hang one mirror outside their tower/home/lab to converse with visitors. The person on the receiving end is not notified when the link is opened, so if he doesn't know someone wishes to speak to him, he might be a little startled when the mirror starts speaking! Breaking the mirror at either end, or even something as simple as causing a ripple in a pool of water, will break the link; otherwise the spell lasts for two rounds per caster level, or until the caster wills it to end. Somewhere in the reflection depicted within the mirror will be a tiny view of the scene the other mirror reflects.

Focus: The two reflective surfaces.

True Reflection
Divination
Level: Wiz 4
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: 1 mirror
Duration: 10 minutes/level
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This spell can be cast only on a special mirror, noted below as the focus. While it is in effect, the mirror reflects the true form of any creature that passes before it. Polymorphed or shapechanged creatures show their true form, and those that are invisible or hiding in shadows (but not astral or ethereal) cast a reflection. All creatures' reflections also show their auras, so anyone looking can see what alignment they are. Illusions do not appear in the mirror. This spell does not reveal hidden or secret doors or enchantments of any kind. The mirror must be stationary - it cannot be carried around to view creatures - and there must be some sort of light source so reflections are visible; the range at which a creature's true reflection can be seen is 60 feet (creatures might cast reflections at a further distance, but they appear as they normally do, not in their true form).

Focus: A highly polished silver mirror of any size that costs at least 300 gp.

Turnabout
Enchantment [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Wiz 3
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Area: Up to one 10-ft. square/level
Duration: 1 hour/level
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This very subtle spell is cast on a piece of ground up to 10 feet square per level, typically in a hallway, passage, or intersection. Any beings entering this area have a 50% chance of becoming turned about, so that they go in the exact opposite direction of where they intended, but think they are still going in the correct direction. Spells like antimagic field and minor globe will suppress the effects of a turnabout, while a successful dispel magic will eliminate it entirely. This spell can be confounded by creatures who have no set destination in mind (i.e., they are just wandering about), or who walk backwards through the affected area. This spell can be made permanent.

Material Component: A small hand mirror.

Wall of Mirrors
Conjuration (Creation)
Level: Wiz 4
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Area: Wall of mirrors whose area is up to one 10 ft. sq./level
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This spell creates a wall of mirrors - normal silver-backed glass, 1-foot octagons by default, though the caster can make them up to 5 feet across if he so wills (this must be stated during the casting of the spell). Like a wall of stone, a wall of mirrors must have at least two opposing anchor points - two walls, a ceiling and floor, etc.

The wall becomes nonmagical one round after it is called into existence; subsequent magics can then be cast on it (mirror spells, glassteel, etc). It can easily be destroyed; each mirror has hardness 1 and 2 hit points. Magical attacks do not affect the wall at all and are reflected back at the caster, if appropriate (ranged touch spells use the caster's attack roll). Certain spells can be cast on the wall, as mentioned before; these affect one or a number of facets, as appropriate to the spell (an entire wall cannot be made into a mirrorgate, for instance). A particular wall can be affected by only one mirror spell at any given time, though for spellcasting purposes, a wall of mirrors can serve as the endpoint for a mirrorgate or face in the mirror spell.

Material Component: A small, silvered-glass mirror or any type, worth at least 50 gp.
