Wood trolls are an offshoot of the troll family. They have a thick, woody skin that strongly resembles bark, and green, leafy hair; they otherwise resemble greater trolls.

Wood trolls speak Giant, and some speak a crude form of Common.

Combat

Wood trolls live and hunt in packs. Since they are not as strong or large as their cousins, they cooperate to bring down prey, often using crude snares or other devices (such as suspended logs). They can also climb and swing through the trees with great agility; one of their favorite tactics is to jump down on prey from above and bear it to the ground, biting and clawing until it is dead. Another is to appear out of a supposedly impassible tangle of brambles, using their plant pass ability, and attack. They are also smart enough to know the value of treasure, and will sometimes use it to lure lone travelers into an ambush. Wood trolls, like their larger cousins, are quite fearless, and will back down only if faced with overwhelming odds.

Plant Pass (Ex): Wood trolls can move through the wilderness without leaving a trace of their passage; they can move through even the thickest of bramble patches at their normal speed.

Regeneration (Ex): Wood trolls regenerate 2 hit points per round unless damaged by fire or acid.

Skills: Wood trolls gain a +6 racial bonus to Stealth checks in forest settings.
